About Us

Chords 4 Kids Benefit Concert

Log a Load for Kids and Mountaintime Music LLC is sponsoring Chords 4 Kids, a one-day music festival at Mountaintime Farm, just 5 miles south of Charlottesville. This is the first of what will be an annual event to benefit the University of Virginia Children’s Hospital.

Ten popular local bands from the Charlottesville area will perform. The music will begin at noon and will wrap up by midnight!

This line-up of great musicians will provide a day to remember, and raise much needed funding for the kids at UVACH to provide for care, research and family needs. The Children’s Miracle Network at UVACH provides the “miracles” these kids and their families pray and fight for everyday.

Event and Donation Information

Tickets to the October 6, Chords 4 Kids event are considered a donation to the Log A Load For Kids foundation to benefit the UVA Children's Hospital in Charlottesville, VA.

The concert setting of Scottsville Pavilion will provide an unforgettable day of music and festivities with old and new friends.  Blankets and chairs are recommended.

Food and beverage trucks will be onsite providing quality products from our local vendors. Alcoholic beverages  including several local craft brewers are available for purchase as well, and the proceeds from these sales will benefit the Hospital also. Outside alcoholic beverages are not allowed to be brought in, but small coolers of food and non-alcoholic beverages are welcome. All coolers and cooler bags will be checked upon entry.

Many local vendors will share their art and services. Additional raffles will be held, with opportunities to bid on interesting and valuable items donated by community members and the local artisans.

Ticket prices are  $40 for the entire day of music.

Each ticket allows admission to one adult, age 16 years or older and parking.

Children 15 and under are free.

No refunds or rain date will be provided, as the event is intended to proceed rain or shine. Chords 4 Kids retains the right to cancel the event, without refund, due to severe weather conditions, such as hurricane, tornado or flooding.

Log A Load For Kids

Log a Load for Kids Foundation is a national non-profit whose mission is to raise funds to improve children's health through treatment, education and research at Children's Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals and other local children's hospitals. Log A Load for Kids was formed 30 years ago with the idea that loggers and others in the forest products community would, once a year, donate the proceeds from their labor or the value of the logs or pulpwood to their local Childrens’ Hospital. It is a grassroots program run by volunteers. Today, Log A Load is a leader in CMN Hospitals’ fundraising, raising more than $2 million annually through golf tournaments, fishing events, dinners, truck loads of log donations and other events and has raised over 50 million dollars for the CMN Hospitals in the United States. Nearly $500K has been raised for the University of Virginia Children’s Hospital in that same time. More info about Log a Load for Kids can be found at their national webpage, http://www.logaload.org/.

Rich Palermo served 3 years as National Chairman of this wonderful Foundation and has been most recently successful with leading a $50K campaign, for a private Chemotherapy Room in the new outpatient Battle Building attached to the UVACH. He is currently on a campaign to finish the $100K funding that it took to renovate the recreation room on the 7th floor of the hospital. The room was finished early, and this past Christmas Day, Santa Claus presented the room to the kids. All that were able to visit the forest themed room were greeted by Santa, and those that couldn’t had Santa visit them in their rooms. Palermo shared that this was the best and most rewarding of all the funds raised to see the smiles of the kids and their families!!!!
